Biography
Delani Buchan is an associate with Hamilton Duncan who maintains a broad litigation practice with a particular emphasis on family law. She also handles estate litigation matters and general civil and commercial disputes. She has appeared as counsel before both the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia on a wide range of matters, representing clients with determination and vigour.
Delani articled in the Vancouver office of a national law firm, where her work was split between commercial litigation and banking and finance matters, including corporate finance transactions and public-private partnership projects. This experience provided her with a strong foundation in complex commercial matters and developed the analytical and problem-solving skills needed for the resolution of disputes. Delani then practiced with a family law firm in downtown Vancouver firm where she represented clients in court proceedings, mediations and settlement negotiations in both family law and child protection matters, fostering her commitment to helping individuals and families navigate disputes with clarity and compassion. Immediately prior to joining Hamilton Duncan, Delani spent two years as an arbitrator with the Residential Tenancy Branch, where she presided over and decided dozens of disputes between landlords and tenants, a further testament to her analytical skills.
When not practicing law, Delani enjoys running half marathons and marathons, playing soccer, traveling, and baking.
