Biography

Sarah is a partner in Hamilton Duncan’s Estate & Trust Litigation Group. Her clients include estate administrators, executors of wills, trustees, estate beneficiaries, trust beneficiaries, co-owners of property, and persons applying to become committees of friends or loved ones who have lost capacity.

As an experienced litigator, Sarah represents clients at all levels of B.C. courts in a broad range of cases including challenges to estate plans; variation of wills and trusts; abuse of powers of attorney and trustee breach claims; passing of executor and trustee accounts; committeeship proceedings; and asset disputes arising from undue influence, lack of capacity, joint tenancy, and other property transfers.

Sarah is a recognized specialist in the area of trusts and estates as an associate member of the internationally-renowned Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Sarah’s STEP designation allows her to advise clients as to the relevant tax, trust, and estate administration considerations her clients face in the course of estate litigation.

Sarah is a dual citizen and was admitted to the bar in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2009, followed by admission to the bar in British Columbia in 2014. Sarah is a long-standing member of the Canadian Bar Association – BC Branch and currently serves as one of its Provincial Council representatives for Westminster County. Sarah is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association’s elder law and wills and trusts groups, the Fraser Valley Estate Planning Council, the Surrey Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyer’s Association of British Columbia.
