Biography
Rupam Rishi practices as a corporate commercial lawyer and has experience assisting clients with the purchase and sale of various private businesses, commercial and residential real estate transactions, and commercial financing and lending transactions. She also has experience preparing and negotiating a variety of contractual agreements including, purchase and sale agreements, commercial lease and sublease agreements, share subscription agreements, shareholder agreements, independent contractor and employment agreements, and bare trust agreements.
As counsel, she is familiar with and regularly advises clients on their obligations under the Business Corporations Act, Societies Act, Land Title Act, and Personal Property Security Act.
Rupam is passionate about helping members of her community and has been involved with the Surrey Food Bank and Hamper To Your Home program. During law school, she actively volunteered with organizations that aimed to facilitate access to justice such as Access Pro Bono’s Mental Health and Civil Chambers programs. Being proficient in Punjabi and Hindi has allowed her to not only enjoy the diversity of her community but provide assistance to those who are in need.
Prior to attending law school, Rupam obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, concentrating in human resource management and international business. She originally joined Hamilton Duncan as a summer student in 2016, and returned for her articles in 2017 after completing her Juris Doctor at the University of Victoria.
Rupam was born and raised in Surrey and loves the community she lives in. In her spare time, she enjoys learning new dance styles, watching sports such as mixed martial arts, as well as hunting for the best nacho place in town.
