Rodney Yates

Biography

For over three decades, Rodney Yates has practiced as a solicitor and has become a trusted advisor and confidant to his business clientele, which includes business owners seeking guidance on incorporations, corporate re-organizations, and purchase and sale transactions. Notably, Rodney has carved out a niche representing private retail liquor store owners, bringing a depth of experience to the intricacies of that sector. Rodney also frequently reviews, advises on and negotiates commercial leases, a skill that complements his proficiency in purchase and sale transactions.

Beyond his focus on corporate and commercial transactions, Rodney extends his legal knowledge to residential real estate developers involved in multi-family stratified projects and residential subdivisions and to providing comprehensive estate planning services.

One of Rodney’s greatest pleasures as a solicitor is the establishment of enduring relationships with his clients, and his client-centric approach is underscored by a commitment to responsiveness, proactivity and cost-effectiveness, values he considers essential in providing exemplary corporate and commercial legal services.

Prior to its merger with Hamilton Duncan in early 2024, Rodney had practiced with Peterson Stark Scott since 1990 as an integral part of its corporate/commercial team. He now continues to provide the same high-end legal service as associate counsel at Hamilton Duncan.

Beyond his legal prowess, Rodney has a passion for the sport of curling and for music, which add a unique dimension to his personality. These diverse pursuits highlight the multifaceted nature of his character and contribute to the well-rounded perspective he brings to his legal practice.
