His practice covers British Columbia, Alberta, and federal matters, regularly practicing out of our Vancouver and Surrey offices. On the Advocacy side, Jimmy enjoys a general litigation practice encompassing a broad range of civil and contractual disputes, corporate commercial litigation, real estate, construction, professional liability, arbitration, and public law matters.

Complementing his broader litigation practice, Jimmy is building experience in natural resources, energy, and regulatory matters. His recent work includes:

  • Regulatory matters in renewables, clean energy technology, and hydrogen
  • Strategic advice and representation to mining companies

During law school at Queen’s University, Jimmy received academic excellence awards in trial advocacy and international trade law. He provided legal services to the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne in the regulation of its tobacco industry and the corresponding constitutional, transportation, criminal, and international implications. He also worked for Queen’s Legal Aid, where he represented clients in a variety of landlord-tenant disputes, criminal matters and judgement enforcements.

Prior to law school, Jimmy received a Bachelor of Earth Sciences from Dalhousie University, and worked as a geologist and environmental scientist in the mining, oil & gas, and environmental sectors of British Columbia and Alberta.

Jimmy’s natural advocacy skills and technical background allow him to act both as a strong litigator and as an effective regulatory counsel in complex environmental, mineral, oil and gas, energy, and Indigenous matters.
